Stockdale's

Charity Work

All of us at the offices of The Stockdale Group are joined in wanting to do ‘Something to Help’. Every last Friday of the month we have our dress down day when we donate into a kitty, gifting the proceeds to our chosen charity. As individuals we take on various challenges for charities that may have special significance to us, or we enter into organised team events that raise money for great causes whilst creating a fun team spirit for those involved!

Cornwall Community Foundation

As a Cornish based, family run group of companies, the Stockdale Group has decided to become a member of The Cornwall 100 Club. This is the business club of the CCF and we are delighted to be a part of it. These are companies who are dedicated to and passionate about Cornwall, helping to raise funds that are then invested into communities throughout Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly. Below are some of the charity challenges we have undertaken …

Miles for Maisie in aid of

The Anaphylaxis Campaign

Sharon Stockdale – Miles for Maisie April 2017 for the Anaphylaxis Campaign

“At the beginning of April I was humbled to be included in a wonderful group of Maisie’s family & friends for a 25km walk from Magaluf to remember a very special young lady.”

Maisie died aged 21 from anaphylactic shock after eating a health bar containing peanuts in January 2015. She had spent summers working on the island & it was an opportunity for those that loved her to reflect together in a place she loved & continue to raise more funds in her memory.

The funds raised are being used to develop a tool to increase awareness to those at risk www.aimallergy.co.uk

Pretty Muddy in aid of

Cancer Research UK

Sharon Stockdale, Cath Roberts, Becky Strang, Becky Brett and Sophie Stockdale – Pretty Muddy October 2016 for Cancer Research UK

A team of Stockdale Group ladies set off to Plymouth to take part in the Pretty Muddy 5K run with various fun, if somewhat muddy challenges along the way! It was a glorious sunny day with an enormous amount of participating teams all having a great time whilst raising money for a cause that is close to many of us.

Drop the Boss in aid of

Heart's Globals Make Some Noise

Sharon Stockdale – Drop the Boss, February 2016 for Heart’s Globals Make Some Noise

The Eden Project Zip Wire… This seemed like a great idea at the time, but as the day drew closer, the reality that I’m absolutely terrified of heights began to sink in! With the support (or was it bullying tactics?) of Cath Roberts and Sophie Stockdale, along with some of my family, I was escorted to the top of the tower and strapped into my harness before being sent head first across the top of The Eden Project! All for a great cause… What continues to amaze me most of all, is that some people actually pay to do this!

Commando Challenge in aid of

The Royal Marines & Devon Air Ambulance

Alan Duff, David Ellicott, Becky Strang, Lisa Wilton & Ben Nurse – Commando Challenge, October 2015 for The Royal Marines & Devon Air Ambulance

This was definitely a challenge. The Stockdale team had worked hard on their fitness in preparation for the day and did an amazing job, all finishing together in a great time! A 10k run over territory that the marines use for their training & through the obstacles that we see them doing such as the infamous tunnel under water, this was not for the faint hearted! A strong support crew of work colleagues & family were on hand for encouragement & cheered them on as they made their way around the testing course.

Great Wall of China hike in aid of

The David Rundle Trust

Sharon Stockdale – 6 day hike along the Great Wall of China, September 2014 for The David Rundle Trust

“This was a fairly gruelling though totally amazing week & definitely an experience of a lifetime. 28 fundraisers, all raising for charities close to their hearts, two British guides & a British doctor set off from Heathrow to Beijing where we were met by our wonderful Chinese guide. From here we spent most of our days with an additional local guide for each day walking along what they term as ‘The Wild Wall’ Breath-taking scenery & days walking seeing only the occasional local farmer, staying in local accommodation each night. The remaining walking was along the wall as we see it in our holiday brochures, quite remarkable but for me, nothing came close to the remoteness & beauty of the wild parts.”
